Basic Computing for Beginners Computer Class at WCSC

January 25, 26 and 27 (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This three-day hands-on class covers everything from turning on the computer to turning it off. It is especially designed for the person who knows absolutely nothing about a computer but would like to learn. It is also highly beneficial for those with only limited computer expertise. Cost is only $20 and is limited to a maximum of 10 people.

 If you have never used a computer mouse, it is highly recommended to come into the computer lab a day or two prior to the class and have one of the techs assist you in learning this vital skill.

E-Sword Computer Class at Whiteside County Senior Center

Friday Oct 8th from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Cost $6

The E-Sword is a free Bible search and study program that can be put onto your home computer. It gives you a fast and effective way to read, study and ompare multiple translations of the Holy Bible. There are too many features to list here, but include maps, photographs, artwork, commentaries and a number of dictionaries. These are all clearly indexed and a simple click on a word in any of the many Bibles gives you an instant definition. Your donation includes the cost of producing the CD that you will take home with you. This CD includes all available modules including many of the common foreign languages. The class itself will instruct you on how to install and use the various selected modules. Maximum of 10 students. No refunds or future class sustitutes will be allowed if you are unable to attend.

Internet and E-Mail Computer Class at WCSC

 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Cost $20

This three-day class includes a discussion of what the Internet is and how it works, explanation of the browser, setting a home page and using favorites. We will talk about Internet safety, do web searches and look at a variety of web sites. Demonstrations on how to set up an Internet e-mail account and discuss how to use it to stay in touch with friends and relatives. We will use actual e-mail accounts to send e-mail with and without attachments, learn to save pictures and more. Maximum of 10 students. No refunds or future class substitutes will be allowed if you are unable to attend.

Computing Essentials Computer Class at WCSC

October 26, 27, and 28 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Cost is $20

This three-day hands-on class outlines a number of computing topics such as updating and back-ups, restoring to a previous set point, cleaning your computer, setting User Accounts, plus using programs in the Windows© Accessories folder and more. We will also cover a number of programs that should be on everyone’s computer including Java, Adobe Reader, Quick Time and several more. Maximum of 10 people.

 People wishing to take this class must have some basic knowledge of computing. You must bring into class by day 3 a USB flash drive, available at Staples, Wal-Mart or from any other store selling electronic items.
