Illinois Cares Rx/Circuit Breaker
|
Helps pay for your Medicare D premium for select plans and lowers your co-pays at the pharmacy for prescriptions or gives you $25 a month if
you are with the VA or other insurance coverage, gives a license plate discount and a one time grant check to help with your property taxes or rent. Income limits apply. You must be 65 years old or disabled to
apply. Clients must file every year to receive program benefits.

Social Security Extra Help
|
Federal Prescription assistance for low income seniors and disabled on Medicare under the 150% Federal poverty guidelines. There is an asset
limit as well. Some clients may need to re-file every year.

Medicare and Medicare Savings Program
|
Clients need to make sure and fill out their redetermination papers every year. Medicare may help with medical cost. The Medicare Savings
Program pays the Medicare B premium for low income Medicare recipients and may cover medical cost after Medicare does if you are under a certain income limit asset.

Food Stamps
|
Clients need to make sure and fill out their redetermination papers for food stamps every year.

LIHEAP-Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
|
Heating assistance for households under the 150% Federal poverty guidelines. Cooling assistance is also available to seniors and the
disabled in the summer. Clients can file only once per the heating and once per cooling season.

Senior Homestead Exemption
|
Provides a $4,000 reduction from the equalized assed valuation. You must be 65 years or older to file for this exemption.

|
Senior Citizens Assesment Freeze
|
Allows seniors to elect to freeze the equalized assesed value (EAV) of their property at the EAV on their property for the taxable year the
applicant first becomes eligible. You must file for this every year.

|
|
|
Disabled Persons’ Homestead Exemption
|
Provides a $2,000 reduction in the equalized assesed value (EAV) of the property owned and occupied by a disabled person who is liable for
the payment of property taxes.

|
Assistance for the telephone bill. Seniors must qualify for LIHEAP, food stamps, Section 8, SSI, or Medicaid to qualify for this program

ITAC
|
Free amplified telephones for the hard of hearing.
TTY machines and Captel phones also available. If you have a landline telephone service you may qualify for this program.

Do not call registry
|
The Do Not Call Registry may limit the sales calls you receive on your home or cell phone.
