Anyone is welcome to attend and learn the basics of the computer.
We have room for ( 10 ) students at a time, so be sure to register early if you wish to be a
part of one of our Classes.

THE CLASSES WE TEACH

FREE BASIC COMPUTING WORKSHOP ( 3-HOURS)
THIS THREE-HOUR CLASS TEACHES YOU HOW TO USE THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD,
TURN THE COMPUTER ON AND OFF, AND CERTAIN ESSENTIAL SKILLS SUCH AS THE
CLICK AND DRAG THAT YOU NEED BEFORE TAKING THE "BASIC COMPUTING CLASS".
Cost is free and is limited to a maximum of 10 people with people who intend to take the
Basic Computing Class the next week having priority.

Basic Computing for Beginners (3-Days)
This three-day hands-on class covers nearly everything to enable you to utilize and enjoy
a computer. It is especially designed for the person who has very limited knowledge about
a computer but would like to learn. New this year are backups and digital photo downloads.
YOU MUST TAKE THE FREE BASIC WORKSHOP PRIOR TO SIGNING UP FOR
THIS CLASS.
That class will be held the week prior to this Basic Class.
Cost is only $20 and is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
No refunds or future class substitutes will be allowed if you are unable to attend.
INTRODUCTIONS TO WINDOWS 7
This presentation will focus on many of the redesigned features and accessories of the latest
operating system from Microsoft - Windows 7. We will discuss Aero themes, the various tools,
games and desktop gadgets. If you are thinking of purchasing a new computer or already have a
new one with this operating system on it, this demonstration may be of value to you. A question
and answer session will follow.
Internet and E-Mail Computer Class
at Whiteside County Senior Center
This three-day class includes a discussion of what the Internet is and how it works, explanation
of the browser, setting a home page and using favorites. We will talk about Internet safety, do
web searches and look at a variety of web sites. Demonstrations on how to set up an Internet
e-mail account and discuss how to use it to stay in touch with friends and relatives. We will use
actual e-mail accounts to send e-mail with and without attachments, learn to save pictures and
more. Maximum of 10 students. No refunds or future class substitutes will be allowed if you are
unable to attend.
COMPUTING ESSENTIALS (3-days)
This three-day hands-on class outlines a number of computing topics such as updating and back
ups, restoring to a previous set point, cleaning your computer, setting User Accounts, plus using
programs in the Windows Accessories folder and more. We will also cover a number of programs
that should be on everyone's computer including Java, Adobe Reader, Quick Time and several
more. Limited to a maximum of 10 people. No refunds or future class substitutes will be allowed
if you are unable to attend. People wishing to take this class must have some basic knowledge of
computing.
You should bring into class a USB flash drive available at Staples, Wal-Mart or from any other
store selling electronic items.
Paid students shall take priority over unpaid, regardless of sign-up day.
INTRODUCTIONS TO FACEBOOK
We will be looking at Facebook, the most popular social networking site on the web. Facebook is a
means by which you can connect with people who matter to you. With more than 600 million
active users Facebook is second only to Google in Website traffic. And the percent of seniors
using Facebook just keeps increasing. In the US, there are more than 15.5 million Facebook users
in the 55+ age group. 1-in-5 seniors using Facebook log on for an hour on any given day.
Our program will cover the basics of setting up an account, creating a profile, setting your
privacy controls, finding friends and more. Learn how Facebook can be a safe ande happy place
for you to connect with family and old friends.
