CLICKS FROM THE COMPUTER LAB June 2012
Starting in May, we combined the Basic Computing class and our Internet
and E-Mail class into a day-long BASIC EVERYDAY COMPUTING FOR ALL.
In addition, we are including many of the topics we taught in the Computing
Essentials class to help round out your computer skills. We will continue to
have the FREE Computing Workshop but students who plan on attending
Basic Everyday Computing for All shall have priority seating. Please check
the dates as this free class is mandatory for all prospective students unless
the instructor has been shown sufficient experience prior to signing up.
Please see the class dates and hours in this issue of the the Golden Echo.
Along with this class, is an option in which you may purchase two meals for
the regular price with the third being free. This option is ONLY available to
those persons who are taking the class and have paid the $35 classroom fee.
Due to rising expenses we can no longer offer a free handout as we have
done in the past. For a small suggested donation of $4 we do offer a folder
with over 30 pages of information covering more than what is taught in the
class.
If you are financially burdened by the cost of this class and are currently
looking for a job or are physically challenged assistance may be available on a
case-by-case basis.
We would also recommend that you visit the Whiteside County Senior
Center website at http://www.whitesidecountyseniorcenter.org/ which has a
wealth of up-to-date information about the center, our programs, current
events and the dining room menu.

CLICKS FROM THE COMPUTER LAB May 2012
We had a great turnout for Abby Stokes's computer presentation and we
want to thank her for taking the time out of her busy schedule to share her
expertise. We, in the lab, were pleased to see that our classes agree with her
ideas and presentation methods but we did learn a couple of things which we
will be incorporating into future classes.
We have decided, on a trial basis, to change our overall class structure. This
is primarily due to the current high gas prices. Many of the students who
attend our classes each month, live out of town so that it is not economical to
just come in for three hours for three days for the Basic Computer then again
for the Internet & E-Mail class. Two of the instructors also live out of town
and the fuel expense is getting prohibitive.
So starting with this month's class, we have combined the two into a day-long
BASIC EVERYDAY COMPUTING FOR ALL. We will continue to have the free
workshop but students who plan on attending Everyday Computing shall
have priority seating. Please see the class dates and hours in this issue of the
the Golden Echo. Along with this class, an option is that you may purchase
two meals for the regular price and the third will be free. This is ONLY
available to those persons who have paid the $35 classroom fee.
